Installation & Warranty Terms
1. Delivery & Pickup Policy
● Free Local Delivery: House of Cedar offers 100% free delivery on eligible orders within a 100km radius of our Richmond Hill facility.
● Extended Delivery Area: Deliveries outside the 100km radius (up to a maximum of 200km) are subject to a flat-rate delivery fee, calculated at checkout.
● Free Local Pickup: Customers may elect to pick up their orders directly from our wholesale facility located at 53-D Observatory Ln, Richmond Hill, ON, at no additional charge.
2. Professional Installation Terms House of Cedar facilitates professional installation services through a network of reputable, independent landscaping contractors.
● Service Area: Installation is available strictly within a 200km radius of our wholesale facility.
● Facilitation & Liability: House of Cedar acts as a facilitator only; all physical labour is performed by independent third-party contractors who maintain their own liability insurance and WSIB clearance. While House of Cedar facilitates third-party installers, it is the Customer’s right to request a copy of the installer’s active WSIB Clearance Certificate and proof of $2M Commercial General Liability insurance prior to the start of work. House of Cedar maintains a strict policy of only facilitating contractors who have provided proof of active coverage; however, the Customer agrees that the final contract for labour is between the Customer and the Installer.
● Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of House of Cedar for any claim arising out of or relating to the products, delivery, or facilitated installation services – whether in contract, tort, or otherwise – shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Customer for the specific order giving rise to the claim.
● Constructor Status: The independent contractor performing the work is designated as the “Constructor” under Ontario law and assumes 100% liability for site safety and workmanship.
● Standard Pricing: Installation is billed at a variable rate of the product cost (currently 40%) and assumes “normal” digging conditions in clean soil.
3. Site Readiness, “Dry Run” Fees & Photo Requirement To prevent project delays, the customer must ensure the site is fully prepared prior to the arrival of the crew.
● Pre-Arrival Photo Mandate: Customers are required to submit a “Site Ready” photo to info@houseofcedar.ca or via text to 647-300-5786 at least 2 hours before the scheduled arrival. This photo must show a clear, unobstructed path to the planting zone.
● Site Obstructions: The delivery and installation zone must be clear of vehicles, debris, pets, and construction equipment.
● The Installation “Dry Run” Fee: If a crew arrives and cannot perform the installation due to site obstructions, lack of utility locates, or unsafe terrain, a “Dry Run” fee consisting of a $200 logistics charge plus a $250 labour rescheduling fee will be applied immediately.
● Wait Time: If a driver or crew is delayed on-site due to unready conditions, a “Wait Time” fee of $125 per hour (billed in 30-minute increments) will apply.
4. Sub-Surface Obstructions & Utility Locates (Mandatory)
● Ontario One Call: It is the Customer’s mandatory responsibility to contact Ontario One Call (tel: 311) to have all underground utility lines marked prior to the arrival of the crew.
● Private Utilities: Customers must also identify and mark all private underground infrastructure (sprinklers, pool piping, landscape lighting). Neither House of Cedar nor the installer is liable for damage to unmarked lines.
● Change Orders: If sub-surface obstructions such as bedrock, buried concrete, or heavy clay are encountered, the installer reserves the right to decline service or issue a “Change Order” for additional labour and specialized equipment fees.
5. The House of Cedar Warranty Programs House of Cedar’s warranty policy is designed to offer you peace of mind and support throughout the initial stages of your landscaping project and beyond. We offer two tiers of warranty coverage for the first year. Both warranties begin on the date of purchase.
Warranty Terms (Credit, Not Cash): Please note that all warranty coverages are provided strictly as a credit towards the replacement of a tree and not as a cash refund. This approach ensures our warranty support is both sustainable and focused on providing tangible assistance where it’s needed most.
Strict One-Time Replacement Policy: Warranty coverages apply exclusively to the initial purchase and can only be claimed once within the first year. Once a tree has been replaced under this warranty, it no longer qualifies for further replacement. The newly planted replacement tree is not covered by any further warranty.
● Tier 1: Free 1-Year Limited Warranty Automatically included with your purchase. This tier covers 50% of the cost of a new replacement tree (applied as a credit). Fulfillment: This is a pick-up only warranty. It does not include delivery or installation of the replacement tree. If the customer requires delivery and installation for the replacement, these services will be calculated and billed separately.
● Tier 2: 1-Year Full Coverage Warranty Available for purchase at checkout for an upfront fee equal to 60% of the product sub-total. This tier covers 100% of the replacement tree cost (applied as a credit) and includes full delivery and installation for the affected specimen.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Professional Start: The initial tree must have been delivered and installed by a qualified member of the House of Cedar facilitated team.
2. Active Irrigation: A functional irrigation system must be present and active at the time of installation.
3. Standard Care: The customer must strictly follow the “Tree and Plant Care Guide” provided at the time of installation.
Disclaimer & Exclusions: This warranty is contingent upon proper professional planting and basic ongoing care, including adequate watering and maintenance. Failure to provide reasonable care, as well as damage caused by external or extraordinary factors, will void the warranty. The warranty does not cover plant failure resulting from:
● Extreme weather events or environmental conditions
● Physical damage (e.g., animals, lawn equipment, or any form of self-inflicted/accidental damage) ● Improper watering (underwatering or overwatering)
● Documented neglect or failure to maintain
● Pest or disease issues
● Relocation of the trees by third parties

6. Zero Tolerance Policy House of Cedar maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment or abusive actions toward our staff or sub-contractors. We reserve the right to automatically terminate all services without a refund in such cases.
