TREE & PLANT CARE GUIDE
Proper care is essential for plant survival. Most plant loss is caused by watering or site conditions - not product defects.
By following this guide, you greatly improve plant success.
Newly planted trees need consistent deep watering.
- Water 2-3 times per week
- Water slowly and deeply at the root zone
- Keep soil moist, not dry or soggy
Hot / windy weather = water more often
Most plant failures are caused by improper watering (too little OR too much).
- Full sun plants: 6+ hours daily sunlight
- Shade plants: protect from direct afternoon sun
- Wrong placement can cause stress or decline
○ Apply 2-3 inches of mulch around base
○ Keep mulch away from trunk (no contact)
○ Helps retain moisture and regulate temperature
○ Do not plant too deep (root flare must be visible)
○ Avoid compacted or waterlogged soil
○ Ensure water drains properly after watering
○ Poor drainage can quickly kill plants
New plants may show:
- leaf drop
- wilting
- slow growth
This is normal and does not mean the plant is dead.
- Increase watering in heat
- Continue watering into fall until ground freezes
- Protect from salt and extreme winter wind exposure
