TREE & PLANT CARE GUIDE
Proper care is essential for plant survival. Most plant loss is caused by watering or site conditions - not product defects.Â
By following this guide, you greatly improve plant success.
Â
Newly planted trees need consistent deep watering.Â
- Water 2-3 times per weekÂ
- Water slowly and deeply at the root zoneÂ
- Keep soil moist, not dry or soggyÂ
Hot / windy weather = water more oftenÂ
Most plant failures are caused by improper watering (too little OR too much).
Â
- Full sun plants: 6+ hours daily sunlightÂ
- Shade plants: protect from direct afternoon sun
- Wrong placement can cause stress or decline
Â
â—‹ Apply 2-3 inches of mulch around baseÂ
â—‹ Keep mulch away from trunk (no contact)Â
â—‹ Helps retain moisture and regulate temperature
Â
â—‹ Do not plant too deep (root flare must be visible)Â
â—‹ Avoid compacted or waterlogged soilÂ
â—‹ Ensure water drains properly after wateringÂ
â—‹ Poor drainage can quickly kill plants
Â
New plants may show:Â
- leaf dropÂ
- wiltingÂ
- slow growthÂ
This is normal and does not mean the plant is dead.
Â
- Increase watering in heatÂ
- Continue watering into fall until ground freezesÂ
- Protect from salt and extreme winter wind exposure
Â
